Gartnerfuglen

This project struck me because of the use of the anonymous red coated figure.
A project about disconnecting and reconnecting 'Unavailability' by Norwegian architects; Gartnerfuglen; a mobile fisherman's hut with a collapsable timber frame and walls of ice, where a single inhabitant can isolate themselves from modern technology.
Is this our new wilderness? The only space where it is possible to 'get away'? Thank you

I love this, clever, funny illustration by Fernando Pérez Hernando painted on cardboard with gouache, watercolour, marker pen and coloured pens.
"This little red I made for a friend, and the message I wanted to send him is that everything depends on the eyes with which to look at things." Fernando Pérez Hernando

Elizabeth O. Dulemba

I blogged on the art room about rediscovering and using unfixed tissue paper as a method of printing. Elizabeth O. Dulemba contacted me about what type of tissue paper I had used, but it was no specific brand just a cheap pack I had picked up. Anyway, Elizabeth has started working with little red and has been layering the colours of the tissue prints and I love her results. Looking forward to seeing how this work develops.

Sophie Lécuyer

In researching further into risographs for The Art Room Plant I have found French illustrator Sophie Lécuyer's work. Sophie's work has a theme of the wild and the mythologies and stories of wilderness including images relating to Little Red Riding Hood.

Nicolas Gouny II

A delightful, bright, very stylised 'Red Riding Hood' from Nicolas Gouny. Despite coming to illustration as a career later, Nicolas has published many books he has a very recognisable graphic style and a great sense of fun in his works.

Nathalie Minne

This work by Nathalie Minne is not a Little Red Riding Hood image, but because of Nathalie's palette and her drawing iconography and symbolism often her works look very like passages from this story.
'El ladrón de palabras' is the story of a word thief, a little gatherer of the days words who delights in their different characters and meanings.

Little Redwing and the Wolf

I was horrified to read today of people shooting migrating redwings. Their song has elated my mornings this last week, with a few individuals appearing to harvest, windfalls and berries.
Anger often leads me to images of Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf, paralysing other creativity but channeling it into versions of this story, the protagonists individually or together interchanging roles and representing so much for me.

Kasia Jackowska II

Kasia Jackowska often digitally blends photographs with drawings to create her imagery, red riding hood is a recurring theme in her work.

Kasia Jackowska I

Like in every fairytale world, in Kasia Jackowska's work human and beasts are equal, and live the same emotions, her drawings are often accompanied by popular pop-song quotes, building the bridge to situations we've all been in.

Luba Haleva

Luba Haleva's work often has a dark nightmarish feel to it concocted from collage, print and drawn elements that give it placement in our world whilst making it otherworldly or of a different consciousness, like dreams. This Luba's a personal illustration of the tale "Concert for Violin and crocus" by bulgarian writer Margarit Minkov.

Kang San 잠산

What I love about this illustration by Korean artist Kang San 잠산, is the way the wolf has been merged with the derelict house and the tree, It is a wonderfully threatening image especially when you see the window in the chest of the wolf.

Eva Macekova II

When searching for links to Eva Macekova's work yesterday I found a site that she has devoted to textile works with this wolf and red riding hood. I love this macabre work but what I find most compelling is the zip opening as it is so like pink gums and teeth. Eva's doll/ textile creations are disturbing, but also wonderful and would appeal greatly to fans of 'Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children.'

Eva Macekova I

I would describe Eva Macekova's work as brutal naive, it has a purposeful simplicity of style of illustrators like David Shrigley and Maria Kalman.
Eva's work is also fiercely experimental, utilising many different techniques and styles. This version of 'Little Red Riding Hood' has been made using stencils and has a zine like quality.

Tang Yun

Tang Yun's 'Little Red Hood has a Muddle Head', Tang Yun was born in 1973 and attended the China Academy of Arts, I am afraid at this time I am unable to find an internet link to her work. In this version of the fairy tale Little red forgets her way to her grandmothers but because she is so kind despite having all kinds of misadventures on her journey she finds her way safely to her gran's house in the end.
